Ladies it’s time to bare your legs for a good cause. The Hooter’s girls are doing it and so can you. The Gulf needs your nylons to clean up the oil spill, and protect the animals, lands, and people that live along the Gulf of Mexico and southeastern coasts of the United States. Your pantyhose will be stuffed with hair, fur, and fleece to create a “boom,” which is then tied together with other booms and placed along the shoreline and in the water to capture the oil. Matter of Trust: Gulf Spill Hair Booms – Photos The oil sticks to the hair in the booms keeping the oil from returning to the ocean or spreading onto the land. The boom collects the oil in a natural, non-toxic, eco-friendly manner.

This is an easy and natural way to help save the neighborhoods of the Gulf. But they can’t do it without you. Indigo Oceanic, Inc. has received thousands of pounds of donated hair, but not enough nylons to complete the booms; and thousands of pounds of hair floating in the Gulf would just create another mess for us to clean up.
So it’s a call to action to women, teens, girls, and drag-queens around the world. It’s time to give up your pantyhose, thigh highs, knee highs, and tights. We’ve come a long way since the 1940s, but Grandmas once again you are being asked to serve your country by donating your stockings. This time you won’t have to draw a line up the back of your leg, like you did in WWII, to give the appearance of wearing pantyhose, a pretty pair of sandals will do just fine. So don’t toss your used nylons with runs or small holes, wash them and donate them, or be generous and send brand new ones.
Nylons or completed booms are being accepted for donation. To donate your nylons sign up at Excess Access. Within 48 hours of signing up you will receive directions on when, where, and how to send your nylons for donation. Matter of Trust has 19 warehouses at the Gulf and one warehouse in San Francisco, CA to collect boom donations.
Donate your nylons individually or as a group. Or host a “Boom B Q” and build booms together. Kelly Wayne demonstrates how to build a boom and host a Boom B Q. YouTube Video: Vincentkoistinen: Matter of Trust, Host your own BQ, Kelly.mov
