Barrios: Distinctive neighborhoods, communities, and places
If you live in a neighborhood, World Barrios is for you! World Barrios is an affordable, technology-based community linking site where you can share the neighborhoods you’ve lived in, the places you’ve traveled, and to exchange ideas on how to make your neighborhood a better place to live in. WorldBarrios.com also provides you the opportunity to share the special events and projects taking place in your neighborhood and communities and learn about neighborhood events and projects going on around the world.
We love people, travel, interesting places, and learning about other communities and people. We all live in neighborhoods and want our families to grow up in pleasant, healthy communities. Our goal is to use technology to provide information, resources, and connections to improve neighborhoods and to provide opportunities for people to get to know great neighborhoods and neighbors around the world; making this world a better place for all of us to live in.
The website features a host of useful information geared to making you more aware of your community, and the role you play in it. WorldBarrios.com offers weekly resources and education on ways that you can improve your neighborhood and get involved in your community, some recent topics have included: “How to be a good neighbor,” “Teaching kids through neighborhood involvement,” “Five ways to help your neighbor during the recession,” and “Depression in your neighborhood.” Each week World Barrios also extends a weekend challenge to complete a simple task to make your neighborhood a better place such as introducing yourself, doing something kind for an elderly person, forgiving someone, exercising, and making someone happy.
World Barrios is also a great place to learn and share about your community and communities around the world. Contributors from the across the globe have shared their neighborhoods and the places they have traveled to.
